{"id":537,"date":"2021-07-14T13:09:09","date_gmt":"2021-07-14T18:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cookbook.deamaree.com\/?p=537"},"modified":"2021-07-14T13:09:13","modified_gmt":"2021-07-14T18:09:13","slug":"deas-jambalaya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cookbook.deamaree.com\/?p=537","title":{"rendered":"Dea&#8217;s Jambalaya"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes<\/li><li>1 package Smoked Sausage, cut into 1\/4 inch slices<\/li><li>1 tablespoon butter or margarine<\/li><li>1 onion, finely chopped<\/li><li>1 cup carrot, finely chopped*<\/li><li>1\/2 tsp garlic powder<\/li><li>1 can (15 ounces) petite diced tomatoes in juice, undrained<\/li><li>1\/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce<\/li><li>1\/2 teaspoon ground black pepper<\/li><li>1\/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes<\/li><li>2 cups uncooked long grain rice (or 3 cups minute rice)<\/li><li>4 cups chicken broth<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Directions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, cook chicken in butter over medium-high heat until juices run clear. Remove chicken and set aside.<\/li><li>In the same saucepan, saute the onions, garlic, and carrot over medium-high heat for 1 minute.<\/li><li>Add sausage; cook, stirring occasionally, 5 minutes or until vegetables are soft and sausage is lightly browned.<\/li><li>Add rice, cook until brown.<\/li><li>Add remaining ingredients, including cooked chicken; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
